Oral Maxillofacial Surgery
In addition to periodontal diseases, we treat a wide variety of diseases such as malignant tumor, congenital anomaly such as harelip and cleft palate, external injury, jaw deformity, temporomandibular joint disease, oral mucosal disease, salivary gland disease, and halitosis. For oral cancer including tongue cancer, we often use a non-surgical approach, namely super-selective intra-arterial chemotherapy to conserve the function. In our division, 60% of tongue cancers are cured with this method, conserving the organ and function.
We are one of the very few facilities in the San-in area and also in Japan that provides consistent treatment for patients with harelip/cleft palate, namely surgical treatment, orthodontics by an orthodontist, and logotherapy by a speech-language pathologist.
For the treatment of maxillofacial defects, we try to recover esthetic quality by implant prosthesis and epithesis.
