We provide the latest minimally invasive surgical treatment for brain and spinal diseases from very acute-phase emergency treatment to post-operative care, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We treat patients with tumor (benign and malignant) in the cerebral nerve/spinal cord, cerebrospinal blood vessel disease (cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, cerebral arteriovenous malformation, dural arteriovenous fistula, etc.), functional diseases (epilepsy, trigeminal neuralgia, and hemifacial spasm), head injury, and pediatric neurosurgery, including patients that need emergency treatment, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are achieving good surgical results because we have specialists in each field with rich experiences who perform minimally invasive surgery.

Field of expertise

During brain tumor excision, we try to maintain brain function to the extent possible by utilizing neuronavigation, we try to excise as much tumor as possible without leaving aftereffects. During surgery, we use MRI (to observe motor nerve activation) and motor-evoked potential monitoring to identify motor cortex. For all suprasellar lesions such as hypophyseal adenoma, we perform pernasal transsphenoidal surgery. Compared to the conventional method of cutting the mucous membrane of the lower lip, this method leads to fewer post-operative complications such as perioral swelling and numbness, decreasing the burden on patients. We often use neuroendoscopy during neruosurgery in general to observe blind area in microsurgery, improving the surgical results. We have supervisory doctors and specialists who have more than 1000 experiences of endovascular surgery (which is minimally invasive) for cerebral aneurysm and carotid artery stenosis, conducting about 100 operations per year with good results. We vigorously use intravascular surgery even for acute cerebral infarction for thrombectomy, obtaining good therapeutic results.

Characteristic medical device

  • The latest neuronavigation system
  • Preoperative functional mapping using 3T fuctional MRI
  • Intraoperative monitoring using motor-evoked potential
  • Genetic analysis of glioma
  • Minimally invasive surgery with neuroendoscopic system
  • Biplane blood vascular photographing apparatus (we have two devices and these are acceptable for emergency cases.)
  • Operating room with an angiography device (for intraoperative angiography)
  • Operation microscopes ( Intraoperative identification of blood vascular and residual tumor is possible by using fluorochrome)

Characteristics

We provide safe and assured minimally invasive surgery combining the latest diagnostic imaging such as 3T MRI, dual-energy CT, and functional evaluation before/after surgery. We have specialists for brain tumor, pituitary tumor, skull base tumor, cerebrovascular disease, pediatric neurosurgery, and functional neurosurgery. We meticulously evaluate the condition of patients together with these specialists before the surgery and provide multimodality therapy including medicinal treatment and radiotherapy.
Our facility has the richest experiences in each field in the Chugoku-Shikoku area. For 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, we accept emergency cases for whom one second matters such as patients with cerebrovascular accident (cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, and subarachnoid hemorrhage), or head trauma.
