Center for Maternal, Fetal, and Neonatal Medicine
The important function of this center is to accept emergency patients transported from other medical institutions and to treat them. The Maternal and Fetal departments mainly accept patients of other medical institutions when doctors think they need to be transported in expectation of a delivery of premature and low-birth weight babies. The Neonatal Department accepts low-birth weight infants as well as infants with respiratory, circulatory, neurological and abdominal symptoms, jaundice, and severe suspended animation (apparent death), or when doctors of other institutions feel that the infants need to be transported here. Moreover, the aim of this center is to provide a ‘comprehensive’ medical facility for obstetrics and neonatology, as well as for pregnant woman having complications starting from conception to postpartum, where patients will be treated with the foremost neonatal care by various specialists in their fields such as cranial nerve pediatrics and child surgery. Since 2009 the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology have also selected this center to providing training to specialists in the field of perinatal care and the center is actively engaged in training and providing service support to these specialists.
